Als sie ihnen aber nach zahlreichen Begegnungen mit anderen Tieren und einem Massai gegenüberstehen, sieht es fatal aus: Die Löwen haben sich ausgerechnet unter dem Baum, in dem ihr "Fluggerät" parkt, zur Mittagsruhe niedergelassen. Da kommt die Giraffe gerade recht, unter ihrem Bauch schleichen die Kinder zur Leiter, die sie in das Baumhaus führt. Zuvor hatte Philipp seinem Handbuch entnommen, dass Löwen Giraffen aus dem Weg gehen.
